9th grade

finally its the last day of 9th grade, this year went by quickly. honestly this year for me was completely terrible, i'm glad it's over =.=. I'm switching to a new school for the next 3 years, i'm not sure which school though. Animo is a good school but i hate the issue of diversity. i made a few....very few good friends, i'll miss them and all but i'm happy to leave this year. i can hardly remember summer bridge...it seems like over a year ago.
im glad this year is over....

1.Do you believe you will finish the final project? why or why not?

I think our group will definitely finish and do the best we can but probably not perfectly. We're ahead of our assignments so we'll definitely finish.

2.Is you group working as a team? why of why not?

Our group works as a team even though we work on our own individual pages. We dont disagree on much so everything works out as planned.

3.What can your group do to be more effective?

I think our group is already very effective and we are each doing our own parts but we could update eachother on how we're working on the pages. And also we need to get started with emailing eachother pages and putting everything together.

school's just boring there's nothing different about it. all these concerts keep coming up so i'm trying to keep up with money so i can go to them. but life is boring. there's nothing that changes its the saaaaame frickin thing every single day it sucks. well this summer i get to start driving ^.^ and start working...great. there's nothing much to say except....yea it's just boring. same schedule same people same everything...same god frickin uniform too and that just kills it =P

[do you feel your group is working as a team? what have u learned in the past 3 weeks about team work?]

yea our team works well together because there's an even amount of work for everyone and we all do our fair share of the project. We do get side tracked sometimes but we still get work done which is all that matters. Our group works well as a team because we listen to eachothers ideas and opinions and everyone has a different view point of the project which makes it more interesting and puts more ideas towards the project itself. I guess i've learned that for a group to work well together it has to have people with different opinions but they still get along well. and people that will work on their project but still be able to talk and listen to other people's opinions.

well hopefully our project will be done in time but im a littke doubtful. we don't really know what we're doing but i think we'll somehow get work done. i have a good group we just..dont..focus well i guess. we all work well together i just think we could all stand to be more focused.

5 things a students needs to be successful in high school is for one just be able to pay attention throughout an entire class and maintain information. 2, finish work at home and dont just shut off as soon as you leave school, actually get your homework done. 3, if you manage to keep up in classes and keep your grades up by paying attention you should be fine. 4, study more than you think you need to because most of the time it isn't enough. and i dont know if there's anything else....all you need to do is simply TRY and everything should be fine.

1. what kind of person are you?
in all i got INFJ, which has something to do with introverted feelings. says they often keep to themselves but are almost always right and know it and something about psychic and.....strong bonds with their children or something [ew i hate kids tho =P] most of the things sounded kind of like me..i guess. said they were complex and have high expectations of themselves. often like to understand and listen to people, good listeners but are very difficult to understand.

2. what kind of worker are you?

"can work logically and rationally- use their intuition to understand their goal and work backwards towards it." says should work in something that i could use in my everyday life, more a career than a job. [huh?] It says INFJ's do better in positions where they were leaders instead of followers and says that they should be independant and supported.

3. how do you get along with other people?
it says that INFJ does well in situations where they do not have to follow people, can be independant but are good listeneres and often concerned about other people's feelings. so i guess that means around people, they listen instead of talk and can sense problems with their loved ones or something.

4. What kinds of jobs are more suited to your personality type?
It says i could be a teacher, child care/early child developement[blech, no way], photographers, musicians, artists, of a psychologist or ...dentist...i dont get that one. but i want to be a writer, photographer, musician or artist or something around there.

5. What kind of personality type should you get married to?
it said i should marry someone ENFP or ENFJ but that soooo doesn't sound right. [[this part is stupid and not scientific or somethin]]

Learning Styles

1.list 3 of your strongest learning styles.
Spatial and Musical. Spatial is where you learn best with pictures, drawings and is associated with abstract thinking.
Musical involves rhythms and music, melodies and often recognize patterns in sounds and music.

2.list 3 of your weakest learning styles.
the 3 lowest scores were in Logical, Verbal and Kinesthetic. Logical involves reasoning and has to do with math, i can see why i got a low score in that area. Verbal[linguistic] works with words and has to do with reading, writing and are good with words and language. Kinesthetic, learning by dancing, running, jumping, body language.

3.using your answers to questions 1 ans 2, list 3 things you can do to improve the way you learn.

i could study with music to help me study better and pay more attention in math class to help the logical learning style. i'm not sure about verbal, normally iam good with words just not inside of school or public speaking around school or working. there's not much about Kinesthetic, i think that is just a way you learn and there isn't much to do about it.

for the activity you had to look at certain pictures and drawings and say what you think of them and explain why.

2)What point was the activity trying to make?

i think the point of this activity was to show that pictures can change your point of view and what you think. they can change peoples opinions and show different views on past events or current events.

3)What did you learn from the activity?
i've learned that african american citizens were treated very unfairely, although i knew that already the pictures on the site showed how drastically it needed to change. and how badly they were treated and the level of importance these issues contained.

first semester

1. what did you do well in first semester?

first semester the class i did best in was probably Spanish. i didn't do anything different than any other class in particularly but it was overall an easier subject.

2. what did you do poorly in first semester?

i did worst in Algebra and i'm still doing bad, and so is almost everyone else i know. it seems like so many people are failing but shouldn't that tell the administrators at school that there might be something wrong with the TEACHER and not the students??? i don't know why they hired mr.bear he doesn't seem to suit the job very well.

3. what do you need to do to get even better graeds for second semester?

i only need to turn in my homework and study more...i guess that might be alot but it shouldn't be much different from first semester. i just need exrta credit in math and ethnic studies. in all i do my homework but i'm too disorganized and i need to actually turn in my work. and realize how important tests and how much of the grade they are.

the most difficult thing we learned this semester was how to use dreamweaver and flash. it was hard remembering what to do and how. but it was interesting because we got to make everything our own and learned how to make our own websites and movies.

The Achievement Gap

1. what do you think causes the achievement gap?

i think the achievement gap is caused by the different living situations between children all throughout school. it's a matter of how much education they get when they're young and what they are exposed to.

2. what can students do to close the gap?
students can each spend an equal amount of time studying and on homework.
they can also make sure they meet the expectations of every teacher, maybe exceed them.

3. what can parents do?
parents can make sure their child is doing their best in school, and even attending school. Parents can also check that their child is completeing their homework, and they can act as teachers at home instead of letting them forget what they learned that day.

4.what can teachers and schools do?
teachers can maintain equal expectations for every student no matter their living situation or race. schools can make sure every student is in a class at the correct level and check to see if they all pass and they are in the right class.

Questions about Tom Hayden

1.what did you think of Tom Hayden?

Tom Hayden was ok. he talked about interesting issues but i didn't follow everything that well. i think he would have appealed to college students more instead of high schoolers. of maybe even juniors of seniors in high school. but the way he spoke about many issues also made them interesting. he does seem like a good writer and puts a different perspective into other people's minds.
2.Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a civil rights leader. Do you see hom as one? why or why not?

i don't see him as a civil rights leader. to be a civil rights leader in my opinion you have to give speeches ang get the attention of hundreds or thousands of people for a cause that the majority of the population would agree with. he was an activist, a writer and supported these ideas but was not a leader, he was more of a supporter.

3.Tom Hayden fels that leaders are not as important as the hundreds or thousands of people behind them. what does he mean by that?

the leaders are the face of the issue, and represents what is going on. the people behind them make the issue or goal actually happen. without thousand of people behind Martin Luther King, he wouldn't have the attention he had. for example, the PPC would most likely never have taken place without supporters. the supporters are the most likely the majority of the population, so they actually achieve the main goal.

high school night ....=.=

Last night was the Palms high schools night at palms middle school. my mom volunteered me of course so i wasn't exactly going to my will. i've been to the high school night at New west charter middle school but i felt better THERE cuz i graduated from there last yr. plus there was only about 3-6 people in each presentation so i could talk without stumbling over my words. but once i got to Palms, me and my mom kept getting lost throughout the school. i got there late then i didn't wanna talk. it was really awkward. but after 3 presentations, we went to dinner. karie went home so did...this sohpmore i cant remember =.= it was this weird little place by ...i dono but we stayed til the restaurant closed =P it was 10 by the time i got home. it's weird, at this school you and your parents go to dinner with your principal, vice principal and other students and actually have a normal conversation. it was fun though...but i still hate talking in front of other people >.<

"Stop Hurting Yourself"

we're supposed to write about the sign that says "stop hurting yourself." on the first day of school i saw that and thought mr.hsu was all weird. i have no idea what it means or it's significance. a situation where someone could hurt themselves....im not sure. But if anyone does harm themselves it would always affect them and their family or friends no matter what. the sign could mean a lot of things, i'm just not sure what it is. Maybe it's up there because if anyone ever thinks about hurting themselves....it would help us not to? Not too sure...

3 things i have learned since the beginning of year are how to use several different programs. we've learned how to use Flash and are currently working on Dreamweaver for websites. and we also have learned more about Powerpoint. along with that we're learning the codes for HTML so we can type them ourselves into dreamweaver or something without the computer doing it for us.

3 things i WANT to learn in this class, i'm not too sure about. i think i would just want to work more with html and dreamweaver and building our own websites. and thats about it.

this weekend i went to the pacific media expo w/robin
we met this guy who's HUGE in Japan. he's Novala Takemoto.he's written a novel,manga,directed Kamikaze Girls and designs for lolita hello kitty ^^ we got a picture w/him then we waited in this long line for the uchusentai noiz concert theyre like one of ourfavorite bands. then we met these 2 guys @ the concert,they were cool
i had to leave right after noiz played tho so i was all mad -_- this los angeles band "dig jelly" also performed the night b4 @ this other concert we were @. then on Halloween i was @ this store in the westside pavilion and i saw her but she looked TOTALLY different. it was rlly weird. so i talked to her and told her i was @ the show ^^ but the rest of Halloween just sucked just...just cuz
but im happy i met Novala Takemoto and Rayko ^^

Japanese American National Museum

1. what did you like most about the Japanese American National Museu?
i liked the first thing we were shown,the taiko and the types of music they showed us.i also found the origami interesting.

2. Name one thing you learned.
one thing i learned ws that the concentration camps that the Japanese Americans were put into were built very quickly and only for that purpose.

3.What did you learn about the Japanese-American experience?
i learned that people that were only half Japanese were still put into the concentration camps. and they were only given a short notice depending on where they lived to gather their things and leave.

i dont think this project had a big affect on how the 9th graders treat eachother. at this school, for the most part, people are pretty nice to eachother. i dont know if it made too much of a difference, but it was interesting. i didn't notice different people being nice to people they didn't really know. maybe i just wasn't paying attention...

if this involved 10th and 11th graders i dont think it would make much of a difference. it would just make the group of people involved alot bigger. it's different from most high schools ive heard about, all grades mix and socialize. most of my friends high schools are very seperated when it comes to grade level. in this case it probably wouldn't make much difference.

if we continued this throughout the rest of the year, everyone would just get bored with the entire subject. i know i would. if it was for the same person through the whole entire year, it would get annoying and by the end of the year we would either love them or hate them. i sure hope we dont continue this for an entire YR

in one class the person that was chosen for me needed help with an assignment. we sit near eachother so i helped her out. i didnt give the answer but helped w/instructions and explain what we were supposed to do.
a few days earlier she seemed upset but i dont know her all that well so it would have been so awkward and go up to her and just say hi or what's wrong or something of the sort.
i dont think this project should have been worth so many points, 50 points to be nice to someone you dont know is a bit odd to me. i just hope that helping someone with homework and classwork will get me credit

thank god it's friday and the day is...kinda almost over. i hate being here cuz all my other friends went to some wierd Christian school. theyre trying to convince me to go there but i would never survive in a religious christian school w/all the dress codes and rules. they dont allow hair dye and boots above your ankle,which just kills it for me. hopefully i just need to survive another year in this school then i can switch. too bad all the really good schools cost an outrageous amount of money. but it's almost the weekend,which is the 2 days a week i get to see my friends. they all talk about how much they love Pacifica, and i sit quietly thinking "shut up, pay for my tuition and i'll switch there" saturday is also almost completely taken up by violin lessons and ensemble classes i'm forced to go to. all that's left in Sunday at the mall at power anime. todays dragging by incredibly slowly....my so called "friend" keeps getting on my nerves. he knows he's doing it on purpose just to annoy me. and this new project where you have to be nice to one person,in my opinion the project is just pointless. so what, you say "hi i like your shirt" and walk off,gain 50 points, and never talk to them again! this day just needs to end already.....

high school?

the first month of high school wasn't what i expected and not necessarily good. the first day was a chaotic mess and it was just...bad. it was easier than i expected and there wasn't as much work as my friends told me there was going to be, so i guess that's a good thing. i'm still not sure if i can trust the school. i've been to alot of bad charter schools so i wasn't expecting much from Animo. my middle school new west charter was so bad the first year it opened so i thought it was just the same with 9th grade. i think after this year i'll be able to trust the school. that is if they dont screw up and do anything stupid. and as for the teachers--i have no idea. my mom's a teacher so i know how they talk about their students behind their back all the time. well all my old teachers didn't have much to say about me cuz i didnt talk much and i still dont. but in animo i'm not so sure. i dont think their trust can be earned all that easily. well hopefully i can keep my grades up and do well and earn ppl's trust

My first week at Animo Venice i've found out they're extremely strict on the dress code and rules. like if your have "possession of a permanent marker" you get detention. i still find that odd. it's only been 5 days into the school year and the teachers are already giving us homework and making us take too many notes. i'm a little tired of being a freshman already, i keep hearing the sophmores and juniors making fun of how young we are or w/e. i don't like algebra OR the teacher, he's not all that interesting. i think for the first week of school the teachers are giving us a little too much work, we already got a project in english and too much hw in math. i've been in a small charter middle school since sixth grade and Animo is alot like it. so it's not that much of achange for me.
